Society of Global Awarness

A Student Organization at Stony Brook University

Fashion Shows

The Society of Global Awareness at Stonybrook University, aims to raise awareness within the community about Global Issues such as the affects of Globalization on the increasse of poverty in Third World nations and lack of educational opportunities. Our organization is a medium through which students are able to expose the campus community to global interests and issues. We address the ways in which people across the globe are affected by an array of linkages that defy geographic and political boundaries.

One of the biggest events we are hosting for the year is entitled “Save a Child In Style” which will take place on Wednesday, April 29 th at 8 PM at Stonybrook University. The purpose of “Save a Child In Style” is to raise awareness about the children in Tanzania who lack basic supplies such as food and clean water. Money for The Baraka School in Maasailand, Tanzania will be raised through donations and fundraising and will be used to aid in providing the children the basic supplies necessary to attend school. All proceeds will be deposited in the Stony Brook Foundation Account for International Academic Programs to buy much needed school supplies for the students and help with school building repairs. We are asking for your help and support through loans of outfits for the fashion Show that we are hosting. We will be honored to have your label lead our efforts to eradicate child poverty.. We hope you will join us in our mission, and we will be more than delighted to have the Cavalli label attached to this event.
